Jaideep Gupte built a successful career in banking long before he became an author. After studying at Bombay Scottish School, earning a B.Com from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce, and completing an MBA in Finance at Leeds University Business School, he worked for five years at HDFC Bank and then spent fifteen years with BNP Paribas.

His work was in finance, but his interest reached far beyond numbers. He often found himself thinking about a question that many people never ask. How did the things we use every day come into our lives? From a toothbrush in the morning to a smartphone, a train, or a laptop, every object has a story. That question slowly grew into an idea for a book.

Why Ordinary Things Caught His Attention

For Gupte, the idea began with daily life. People use hundreds of inventions without thinking about the people who created them. Every small convenience exists because someone spent years asking questions, testing ideas, making mistakes, and trying again.

He felt these inventors deserved far more attention than they usually receive. Their work changed the way people live, work, travel, and communicate, yet many of their names are rarely remembered.

This thought became the foundation of The Greatest Inventions – Ever – Past, Present and Future, a book that looks at inventions from ancient times to the modern world while also asking what may come next.

Building a Strong Science Foundation

Writing the book meant much more than reading history books. Since Gupte came from a commerce background, he knew he first needed to understand the science behind many inventions.

Over the next two and a half years, he spent countless hours studying physics, chemistry, and biology. He read about the electromagnetic spectrum, the structure of the atom, DNA, RNA, and many other scientific ideas that helped shape human progress.

Learning these subjects gave him a much clearer view of how inventions came into being. Instead of simply writing about what was invented, he wanted readers to understand why those inventions became possible in the first place.

The Ideas That Changed Civilizations

As his research grew, Gupte began to see that inventions have always shaped the rise and fall of societies. New ideas changed trade, transport, medicine, communication, and even the balance of power between countries.

His book follows inventions across many centuries and many parts of the world. It shows how one idea often led to another and how human progress has always depended on people who were willing to think in fresh ways.

By putting science and history side by side, he hopes readers will see familiar objects with a greater sense of appreciation.

The Personal Rule Behind Every Chapter

The book took about two and a half years to complete, with breaks along the way. Gupte never believed in writing simply to meet a schedule.

“I always believed that I should never write just for the sake of writing,” he says. “Write only when your heart is in it.”

If he felt tired or lacked inspiration, he stepped away from the manuscript and returned later with a fresh mind. He believes good writing comes from genuine interest rather than pressure.

Telling the Stories Behind Everyday Innovation

At the heart of the book is a simple goal: to shine a light on the people whose ideas changed the world.

Many inventors spent years solving problems that most people never think about. Their work made daily life safer, faster, easier, and more comfortable. Gupte believes they deserve far more recognition for their work and hopes his book helps readers appreciate their contributions.

The Curiosity Behind Every Project

Outside writing, Gupte enjoys travelling, reading both fiction and non-fiction, and watching films from many genres. These interests have helped him see how different cultures have shaped human thought and progress over time.

He is also thinking about future books on world empires, gold and crude oil, or the paranormal. While each subject is different, they all come from the same habit of asking questions and wanting to learn more.

Through *The Greatest Inventions – Ever – Past, Present and Future*, Jaideep Gupte hopes readers will leave with a simple message. We have one life, so keep asking questions, stay curious, and take time to understand the amazing world around us. Sometimes, a single question can lead to years of learning and a completely new way of seeing everyday life.
